Every bone in my body seemed to ache. Soon my temperature was soaring as shooting pains coursed through my body. I felt constantly nauseated. t sleep. I was not getting any better. After a week, I knew I had to get to Orlando, Florida and find a doctor. Two of my sons, George Jr. and Timothy, lived in Orlando and worked at our New Missions office.

All of my shoes and some of my clothing had been ruined, and a strong odor of waste and mildew permeated the place. d learned long ago not to hold on too tightly to material possessions. I was grateful, however, that my home was still standing and that I had a bed to sleep in. Although many of the Haitians had lost their possessions, they displayed a patience and acceptance in difficult circumstances that is rarely seen in American culture.
