Henderson Station | Auckland

US$0.00

An active interchange at the intersection of the Waitākere civil centre and the existing town centre, the design for Henderson Station creates a quality pedestrian environment that facilitates safe movement and movement of people. An uncomplicated composition and a restrained material palette culminate in a fluid design that enhances and elevates the function of the interchange.

A single row of kowhai trees and ground cover plantings punctuate the street parallel to the rail line, providing separation between rail and bus interchange functions. To simplify and unify the bus interchange, horizontal and vertical surfaces are afforded the same treatment, textured concrete is used for both creating a seamless transition between the two. Material composition and furniture arrangements define access routes, crossings, and pedestrian areas - subtle but legible cues.
